We highlight the rich blend of cultures and heritage from the Indian Ocean spice trade to traditional cooking techniques and the spectacular array of exotic ingredients the area offers.

About Us
Jikoni, meaning ‘kitchen’ in Swahili, is the creation of chefs Iman and James. They’ve been perfecting the menus since they met back in 2017. Inspired by Iman’s exploration of the Nairobi food scene as a youth, her mother’s Somalian home cooking, and also draw on James’s love of food and experience in the industry.
We source our ingredients locally where possible and Jikoni East Africa is a proud supporter of the Kabisa foundation. This fantastic charity supports families and local businesses in Kenya and Tanzania.
Our Location
Jikoni East Africa is a Bristol based restaurant and events caterer showcasing the fantastic food culture of East Africa. Our menu has dishes from Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia and beyond. We offer an exciting array of traditional and contemporary dishes drawing on the region’s diverse cultural heritage. After popping up all over the West Country for 2+ years and our beautiful cafe in St.Pauls, Bristol.
We have been blessed with the opportunity to call The Old Fire Station our home! Such a great spot with real character, not to mention the other fantastic businesses and people that work there. Come and sit on our sunny courtyard for lunch, or grab a coffee and cake to takeaway.
